Did you miss me???
Hello! Hello! Hello!
Sorry it has taken some time to get back into chatting with you but...
Thanksgiving was glorious! And, yes, I had help! Do you really think I would invite 12 people for a huge dinner without having help? I may be a little demented at times but I am NOT crazy! My DH and kids are wonderful helpers and we really did have so much fun cooking and preparing together! Everything was delicious except for the green bean casserole which ended up on the floor!
We bought my new frig! It is one of those French Door models which I have been drooling over since they came out! It will be delivered tomorrow....I can't wait! So, for the first time in my life, I actually went shopping on Black Friday...I usually avoid the stores because I don't like crowds but this was a Sears Appliance Store and by the time we got there, there were hardly any people there.
Then, we headed north to the cabin. We have this cabin with our best friends and it is a "little slice of Heaven". Didn't do much, just some antiquing and outlet shopping, but mostly just relaxing! The town it is in is located in the foothills of the Berkshires and it is gorgeous up there. We usually try to get up there at least every 2 weeks but it has been about 7 months with all that has been going on! Here are some pics! It is 5 rooms, sleeps 13-14, 2 baths, whirlpool tub, washer/dryer, dishwasher...oh, it is tough roughing it in the mountains, let me tell ya! Our hubbies were originally going to build a little hunting cabin...then the ladies got involved and said, if you want us to come up...there had better be some upgrades! We have been going up there for about 15 years now.
and another...a view from the front deck...
We got home late Sunday night, exhausted and to a messy house, and a ton of emails! When I started downloading some of the shares my computer started acting a little strange! I had no space left! So yesterday was spent burning off files and trying to open up some space. I ran into the kid next door who is a computer geek and he came in and is going to get me another hard drive so hopefully that will take care of the problem. Give me a program and I can figure it out but DO NOT ask me how or why a computer works!
I have been working on a little project for you all...it is still in the process but it is something that I can share as it is done. It is a Christmas Album. don't know how many pages it will be or just what will be in it but it will all be based on 3-4 patterns so it will all coordinate so you can mix, match, add, subtract...whatever your little hearts desire! But here is the catch! Since it is Christmas and it is traditionally a time for presents and surprises, you will not get to see the entire download each day. You may see the background or you may see the elements or the word art or maybe nothing at all! After you download, when you click on "extract the file" I want you to picture yourself unwrapping a present! Isn't that fun? A prezzie from me to you!
Here is the first:
OH, I hope it fits! I hope you like it! Don't have the receipt can't return it! LOL!
Sorry! This download has been removed!
Don't know if I will get a new page up for you everyday but by Christmas you should have a bunch of them. Most of the pages can be mirrored so you can do 2 page layouts. It is for an 8x8 album. Please enjoy and fa-la-la-la-la!
Huggers!!!

Holiday Break! I will miss you all!
I'm taking a break from uploading, downloading and things in between,
Taking time to to say Thanks for Family and Friends.
There are pies to bake and potatoes to mash,
Next time I invite 12...please, kick me in the A--!
Peel the carrots , and make the "worms"
Steam the asparagus and baste the bird,
Stuff the artichokes, casserole the green beans,
Turnips and stuffing, and make the whipped cream!
So, have a great Holiday!
Eat lots of good stuff!
Enjoy your day!
It will be over soon enough.
And, when it's all over and you think there's a break
Right around the corner...there's Christmas to make!
All right, I will keep my day job! I guess being a Poet Lauriat is safe for Maya Angelou. But I wanted to wish all that celebrate Thanksgiving, a wonderful holiday. I will remember all of you in my prayers of those things in my life that I am thankful for and pray that you and yours are happy and healthy. I am taking a break because there is so much to do and my son will be having his ear surgery on Wednesday and never does well with the anesthesia. Hopefully, DH and I will be going away for the weekend to our cabin for some much needed "down time" with our best friends so I will see you all next week!
God bless, loosen your belts, and keep the alka seltzer handy!
Great big ol' hugs!
jannidee

Happy Sunday Everyone!
You guys are too much! Becky and Beth (hi, Beth, sorry I have been out of touch lately) asked for a tut!?!?! I am still giggling... I am one of those that can never remember to write anything down mainly because a lot of what I do comes as a total surprise to me! I am just now remembering to use the image information to note which font I used! But, I did write down how that whole day making the bow went and I have uploaded it. Mind you, if you are looking for a real technical tut, don't download it but I do tell you all that I can remember about making it. It may be enough to be a starting point for you. Really, it is a lot of trial and ERROR, the emphasis being on the error! The "sorta" tut is here. (Download no longer available)
Today is quiet. My son is home again for Thanksgiving break and will have the tubes put in on the 21st. Since he is home I will be doing a lot more grocery shopping and cooking but like I have said, I love it when he is home because he is so much fun to cook for! One of the first things he asked when he came home is if we have everything we need for the Worm Soup! Yes, Cristi, my MIL mentioned that the recipe was Marcajon. Don't know where her family is from. I have asked but she says she is not sure. (Which to me is strange since she is first generation here.) And, yes, she makes Cappeletti soup for Christmas, also. For the Polish side, she makes a Cabbage Soup, which I never cared for. Christmas Eve is really a riot with her because she tries to maintain the "Fish Only" for the Italian tradition but then brings in the Polish side, too. It is quite a mixture of food. She makes great pirogi. We no longer go there for the holidays which is a story in itself which explains why I am now trying to learn how to make all the recipes that are my DH's and kid's favorites.
If I play my cards right I could spend most of the winter in the warmer climates! I could head down to see Pugsli, then on to Florida to see Lisa, head to New Mexico to see two different friends and then out to California to see Barb! Sounds good to me! Barb, I love Spritz cookies! I don't make them, I have tried but pressing them with the arthritis in my hands is a problem. My traditional cookie for Christmas that has been handed down is Peppernuts. It is not the Pfeifferneusse (I know I spelled that wrong!) that most people know with the cakey texture and powdered sugar, these are an anise cookie about 5/8" big that get real hard. They are great with tea or coffee since you can float them in it to soften them a little. They sound weird but everyone that has tried them loves them and we now make 3X the recipe because my Mom and I give out bags of them to everyone that comes to Christmas dinner and then some.
Mack...this is my second dog named Bogie! My first dog I named after Bogart when I was in an old movie kick. I had him for 18 years and he was the love of my life and best friend from 8th grade on. This Bogie Beagle was a rescue and when I was picking him out I was very hesitant about taking him because he was so traumatized and skittish but then the girl said, "We were going to name him Buddy but we already had 2 others named Buddy. So, we called him Bogie." That was it! Decision made, he was coming home with me and he is just the sweetest dog! It took a long time to bring him around and he still is fearful of people except for the family and people that are here all the time. But he is definitely, MY dog, and I sometimes think there is an invisible umbilical cord! Both our dogs and our cat were rescues. The Jack/Rat is actually my daughter's and the cat's my son's. They are definitely my kids since they can't turn away from an animal in need and they know that I won't say "no".
So, today is the day! The last piece of the kit! The frosted frames! Are you excited? Can you not wait?
Then wait no longer! On your mark, get ready, go DOWNLOAD! Sorry no longer available
Have a great day! Hugs to you all!

Gifts for YOU!
Woo-Hoo! Yippee!
By now you all know that bows have been a thorn in my side. I have used some that I have scanned in but to make one from scratch! Very illusive! Well, yesterday I was working on some designs for our Christmas card and I had an idea but it needed the bow to match the ribbon so...that is about all I did yesterday! I was so excited with the way it came out and there was no one home to get excited with! Not that anyone here would understand what an accomplishment I thought it was but...! So, I am sharing them with you as a bonus today! Now, it isn't perfect but it is my first, so be kind!
The elements today are the ribbons and charm pack. The snowman charm: I included dated ones and then there is a plain one so you can date it yourself or leave it plain. I would love to see any LO's you do with this kit. So please if you use it, could you send me the link or let me know and I will post it here?
Worm Soup. Christi, I am so glad that someone else knows what I am talking about! Both you and the recipe I found on line mentioned making it for Easter...is that a traditional thing? Maybe my MIL makes it for Thanksgiving because Easter is traditionally all Polish food at her house. I use the meat grinder attachment also (I think Kitchen Aide also calls it the pasta attachment...in my house it is called the worm thingy!) I don't know what the ricer is that the recipe calls for and when I was posting, I could not remember what it was called and thought, well, maybe it is the ricer attachment... the only ricer that I know of is what my grandmother used to call the hand masher for making mashed potatoes. Does your uncle put the lemon zest in it? It is so interesting how recipes change when they are handed down through the generations and if you ask why, the answer is always "because that's the way my mother did it!"
You Southern gals: I may be coming sooner than you think. It is supposed to get down to the 20's this week. Pugsli (love that name) light the fire ..I am coming down!
Enough rambling here are the goodies!
Elements for Frosted Windows: CLICK HERE It is the file with #3 in it. Pick png or psp!

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for being so kind!

Wow!
Still have not heard from the doctor about DH. He was supposed to get back to us today and we heard nothing so I am thinking that it can't be anything serious. Just love how these guys take their time about getting you the results, like you aren't worried or anything.
The png's are beating out the psp's. Don't really know why I wanted to know this Just my curious nature, I guess.
So nobody else has heard of Worm Soup? I actually was asking hoping someone had, and had a recipe. I have somewhat of a recipe for it from my MIL but like so many recipes that are passed down, the measurements are "couple of handfuls of breadcrumbs, some cheese, nutmeg to taste" so whenever I have made it, it comes out different, sometimes good, sometimes great. I actually did Google it not thinking I would get any results but I did! If you have a ricer attachment to a stand mixer it is very easy to make and it is so delicious. Here's what I found and it pretty much is the same as my MIL's.
Worm Soup
1. Mix the crumbs, eggs and cheese in a bowl and season with nutmeg
We use just chicken broth with cut up chicken. (remove the veggies that you have used to get the flavor to the broth), add the juice of one lemon to the broth, and the zest of one lemon to the bread crumbs. AND, chill thoroughly before trying to get it to go through the ricer!
Just wouldn't be Thanksgiving in our house without it. My DH is Italian and Polish so our holiday meals have become quite an International Event since he likes to have all the dishes he grew up having and I still want the traditional. (I'm Irish, French and English...guess that makes our kids pretty much mongrels!)
It is 2:30 AM and I should be in bed but tomorrow is a busy day with an eye appointment and then to the dentist so I don't know when I will be home. I thought I would post now so you can start to get going on using this kit. So what shall I give you today....hmmm....think I will surprise you. So hurry up, warm up the right index finger and get a'clickin...right here. (Link no longer available)
Have a sparkling day and thank you all for all the wonderful comments. I will say it again....You are the greatest!!!
Hugs!

Good Morning!
Been kind of quiet around here. DH is still home from work and I must say, I think I will miss him when he goes back! I will deny ever saying that so please don't tell him! But, so many little "Honey Do" things are getting done! He still cannot climb ladders or kneel, and if he twists it in anyway he is in a lot of pain. Considering that he is a painter, not sure if he is going to be released back to work this week or not. We are still waiting for his results on all the GI stuff which hopefully we will get today. They have said that he has a bleed somewhere but this man eats everything and never complains about his stomach except when I use Folgers coffee! It is the only thing that gives him heartburn. Strange, but we will know today and then I can either worry in earnest or stop worrying, hopefully the latter!
The good thing that has come out of this is that he is more understanding of my pain. I have lived with fibro and degenerative joint disease for 30 years and everything that seems to come with it, the chronic fatigue, herniations, etc. Like all of us that have it, others can't see it so they have a hard time realizing that you are in constant pain. But, this has taught him that you can have pain without a huge gaping wound! I have waited years for someone in my family to understand. Too bad it took surgery for it to sink in! I find that he is doing more that he used to assume I should be doing that requires lifting and although he will never admit it, I understand why. He is as thick and stubborn as they get! Gee, only took 24 years of marriage to break him!
So, other than thinking about Thanksgiving dinner, all else is pretty quiet. Going to do the shopping today for some of it and get out the Kitchen Aide and get some things done in advance. Question for you...we make a soup which is Italian in origin for Thanksgiving. His family always called it Worm Soup but the Italian name is Passete (probably spelled it wrong). Has anyone else heard of it? It is made in a lemon chicken broth and the "worms" are made of eggs, bread crumbs, cheese and seasoning that you put through a press to form pencil thick strands and then cook them in the broth. It is so delicious but I have to tell you the first time I went to his house for Thanksgiving and he said that we were having Worm Soup, I was a little hesitant to say the least. Just wondered if anyone else of Italian heritage has heard of it.
I have uploaded the 2 top borders and frost overlay for you today. There are 2 files, one is in psp image format and the other is png so make sure you grab the one that best suits you. Doing a little poll by doing it this way to see which is used more.
Have a great day and thank you all for all the comments. You have really made a difference, more of a difference than you know!
Download is here. Sorry, link no longer available.

New Outlook and a New Freebie!
So...I am going to give away another kit and I must say it is my favorite kit so far!
Are you on the outside looking in on a warm cozy scene? Or, are you on the inside looking out on a cold (br-r-r-r) winter scene? Either way make sure you are looking through Frosted Window Panes! And that's what was the inspiration for this kit. I started off making a 4 paned window and added frost and then it just grew from there!
Included in this kit in addition to the 2 frames is 5 papers, 2 vellum papers, 3 word art, 2 chains, 5+ charms, 2 bookplates, 3 tags, ribbons, 1 ribbon slide, 5 paperclips, a frosted overlay, grommets, brad, staple...I think that's it! I say 5+ charms because there are several snowman charms that are dated and one that is plain.
I hope you enjoy this kit as much as I enjoyed making it. Some kits are a chore to make but this one I think I could just go on and on and on!

A Couple of things...
This file was sent through as a psp image and png so there would be no need to TUBE it and most importantly, if you saw the preview, you would have seen a link to download because it was FREE!, so I don't buy the explanation that she has offered others, that she got them as BMP and since she was tubing, she would do these.
I love to create and I love sharing. All I ask is to get credit for what I make and not have it ripped apart. And, although she has stated that she does not claim any work as her own, her name is on it , her watermark is on it and the file name includes her name. Then she has the audacity to demand that you use HER preview and NOT to change HER file name! Call me stupid, but to me that implies you are taking credit for it.
Both of these files will be down until they are modified.

Happy Monday!
Before you read today's post, please take a minute to read the post from yesterday and leave a little note for Vikki and her nephew. I am going to pass on your comments to her.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I did. Hooked up my new printer and scanner and started to go through my pictures in earnest so I can get cracking on my albums. I had pictures in mind when I was doing up pages but since so many were taken BD (before digital) wasn't sure how well they would scan and re-size so kind of hit a slump. Now that I am back on track, things may slow down here a bit or else I may have to delay Christmas until I get some prezzies done! I have a scrapbook that I am doing for my cousin's husband of his grandson (a paying job), one for my husband, both my kids and a calendar for my Mom so I need to get busy burning up some ink and getting these put together!
But, while I was going through the pictures and stuff I came across a pile of cards that I had saved from my grandmothers and had tied with a ribbon and became inspired to try to do something like that for Soft Memories! So, with that thought in mind, I was FORCED to turn on my computer and open up PSP...forced, I tell you, I was forced! Today's freebie is a bunch of vellum envelopes (front and back), a stack of letters tied with a ribbon, 3 tags, a diamond embellishment, wax seal and a bow (yep, scanned in a bow and whallah! recolored it and there you go!) Two of the envelopes have been done so that the front is separate from the back to make it easier to stuff them. Still not thrilled with the frames I have in process but I may be posting them soon. (Don't know why some previews upload so nice and others come out like this...maybe it is because of the softer colors?) And, I also, owe you guys an apology, when I went back to use one of the ribbons, I realized that I had not removed the drop shadows before I saved the file. I said that there were no drop shadows except for on the garland but, well, my bad! So even I don't have them without the shadows!
So there you go.....download them here. ( Sorry, this download has been removed And have a great day and please leave a comment to yesterday's post and if you download, leave me a little love?

A Friend in our Community needs some help
I know that I said that weekends would be family-only time but I guess in this case, I am not really breaking my own rule. Vikki Pearson, although I do not know her personally, is a name that I have seen in many of the groups I belong to for a long time and she has always been very generous with sharing and now she is in need of some help. I strongly believe in the power of prayer. I know that several years ago when my Dad was so sick, it was such a comfort to me and to him, that so many from around the world were praying for him. So, please, read Vikki's message below and add Jarrid, Vikki and the family to your prayers.
OK I know this is way off the topic of the groups and I normally wouldn't do this but this is important. My 19yr old nephew Jarrid has what they call Good pastures Syndrome (we found that out a year or so ago) but we just recently found out that the meds from the disease caused his hips to deteriorate and needed to have both hips replaced. Well the other day he went into have 1 done the other day. Everything seemed to go well but then they thought he had a blood clot in his lung. Well I just found out that he has a collapsed lung.As far as they know the Good Pasture's is what caused his lung to do that. I know this will make him afraid to have the other one done now which was supposed to be done next month. But I was wondering if we could get some prayers and stuff out for him..
Thanx bunches
Hugs N Luvs Vikki
I thought I would send ya all a pic of Jarrid. This pic was taken a couple years ago. Just b4 the disease hit him. He had is whole life planned out. He wanted to go to college to study forensics so he could be a forensic scientist or be in a CSI type of thing. But that was all taken from him when this disease hit him. He wasn't supposed to work but he had to try tho as he didn't want to try and get SSI because he was so young and he didn't want people to look at him funny and think that there is no reason he shouldn't be working. But his working and his meds are what caused his hips to deteriorate. But anyway I thought I would share his pic with ya all.
1st Update
Hi everyone just thought I'd let ya all know what I found out. They think the disease (Good Pasture's Syndrome) might have come back. His lung is still collapsed (as far as I know) and they are in the process of giving him a blood transfusion (which when the disease was at it's worst in the beginning he had to have several of them). My sister is on her way up their with Jarrid's parents and Jarrid's brothers are on their way up to be with him. What was gonna be a 3 day stay for the hip replacement surgery has turned into a longer stay for him. I'm afraid that since this happened he won't go in for the other hip replacement surgery or that they'll let him have it with the complications he's had so far.
My mom has been keeping me up to date and as I find out more I'll let you all know.. Thanx for being here for me and for Jarrid especially
2nd Update
Well I thought I would let ya all know I just heard from my mom just now. Jarrid is stabilized now. His fever is down and things seem to be better after his transfusion. But knowing how things can be this could be the calm b4 the storm but will keep thinkin positive that things will be fine. But should I hear more I'll be sure to let ya all know.
Thanx 4 being there for me any my family!!!
Big Hugs to ya all
Vikki
Thanks and big hugs to you all!

I am in Love...
Now, to celebrate my shiny world, a freebie! This is a little mini kit that I will probably do more with later but I love it cuz its soft and dreamy and romantic! Thought it might be nice for heritage, weddings or Mom LO's. Let me know if you use it. I would love to see what you do!
Enjoy...I might be MIA tomorrow as I have a luncheon engagement (sounds classier than some friends and I are going out to lunch) and then we are going to hit The Christmas Tree Shop and AC Moores. I can already hear my wallet groaning!
Big ol' hugs!

Honest, I am not ignoring everyone!
I feel bad that I haven't been posting much but things have been rather hectic. Bought a new car yesterday, well not new but it will be new to me. My car was ok but we were starting to have some mechanical problems with it and I just didn't trust it to go for long distances since I got stuck once with it so if you can't trust your car, time for a new one. Plus we just bought my son a car last week and, heh, I wanted one too! 2001 Bonneville and it is loaded! Leather heated seats, every bell and whistle you could want, sunroof, chrome wheels...and whoever owned it before never even took the plastic off the floor carpet! (and I thought I was OCD!) Only 60,000 miles and it is in mint condition!
So, have been running around doing stuff to make that happen today and also shopping for a new refrigerator. Hmmmm...maybe having hubby home isn't so bad after all! Right!
One of you scrappin chicks emailed me and said that she was having trouble with the rar file for the quickpage and asked if I could upload it as a png. Finally after trying since yesterday, I had success this morning. So, if you have had any trouble it is here . Just make sure you grab the right file.
I have been working on some stuff since my ISP has been giving me so much trouble and I do need to get some of the other things in shape so I can share them. I work in psp so changing them all out of layers and into png takes a little time. Bear with me, please.
Did you all go over to Nana's Attic and see the tag she made out of the Fall Splendor kit? She is such a doll and she made me a tag too! Actually made me two tags since she...well, check out her blog...she is one talented lady! And make sure you check out MoodieBeth's blog also. Not only can she scrap but this lady is a whiz at crochet and has some very unique shares! Woo-hoo! I have got the greatest Scrappin' Buds, I could ask for!
Have a great day and, I promise, there is more to come!
