Late post

Sorry for posting so late today...more wallpaper shopping and then we had to go to a wake this evening. Finally found a wallpaper that would go but now have to wait 2 weeks for it to be delivered. Hopefully, the rest of the room will take that long to do so it doesn't seem like we just get the mess cleaned up just to get it messy again!

You know, I haven't posted anything about the tragedy in Virginia. Not because it has not been on my mind but I am just having such a hard time wrapping my mind around it. I try very hard not to be too over protective with my kids (although they would probably disagree) but you do have to let them go and spread their wings. Letting them go away to college should be "a little flutter" since you think you are sending them some place safe and to something that will prepare them for the future. When Jess was in school, she and her friends would go out to some of the clubs in Rhode Island. I would always tell her to be careful, she always promised that they would have a designated driver, the whole "I-am-your-parent-and-it-is-my-job-to-worry" verbiage. When it came on the news that a club had burned in Rhode Island and all those people had died, we frantically tried to call her and wouldn't be able to get through to her until the next evening. We had called the State Police in Rhode Island, we had called the school, we called everyone we could think of. She was so, almost, irritated that we were so upset. She had just slept over at a friend's house and she had forgotten her phone. Told us that we needed to "chill" and realize that we were no longer in control of her every move and that at her age, she didn't think she should have to call us to let us know that she was going out. True but...

So, I can imagine the panic, the fear, the dread that all the parents and families were going through but, hopefully, I will never know, first hand, the grief that the victims' families will live with for the rest of their lives. I find that every time it comes on the news, I am in tears. I simply just cannot imagine or understand.

Today's Freebie
Preview Not Available (preview is uploaded to 4shared though)
Download no longer available...sorry!

For some reason, blogger will not upload the jpg. It is the Alphas. Two Capital sets and one Small alpha with numbers and punctuation marks (and the ALL important &....just a little poke at Cindell!) But you can see it on the tag on the papers that says Garden Party. One Capital set has the stamp and one is Plain. Sorry.

Thank you for the alphas and the rest of the kit. I think I have left a comment on everything, but with my memory the way it is some days I might have thanked you and not picked anything up, too. Anyway, thanks for all these wonderful kits you make and share.

Thanks again...I am an alpha/font junkie...in addition to being a scrap addict. Not the worst isssues to deal with...LOL.
The VT tragedy is just overwhelming. I cannot begin to imagine what it is like for the families directly involved, but they are all in my prayers. It hurts my heart to see all the young people who lost their lives, and to see the ones who must now live with this great tragedy in their lives. I can only pray that it makes them stronger and shows them the importance of each day.
Really makes me appreciate my simple, uneventful days of housework, scrapping, and running kids to and from.

thank you for the pretty (I think) alpha -- the image wouldn't load, sez it's a type .jsd file(!!!) -- but if the alpha is as pretty as the rest of the kit: WOW!

Thanks so much for this beautiful alpha! I really don't think grown kids understand why us parents still worry about them until they have children of their own! While keeping all of the families of the victims in our prayers, I can't help wondering what the boy that did the shootings parents must be going through. They are also in my prayers!

I live about 30 minutes away from Virginia tech and it is just like we are there in Blacksburg almost -- almost everybody in Roanoke is a VT Hokie fan to begin with since we don't have a public 4-year university in the city -- VT is the closest one. I didn't know anybody who was killed or hurt, but it seems like the whole area around here is grieving.

I lived about 30 minutes away from Oklahoma City when the bombing happened (yeah I know -- I have bad karma or something!! -- I don't think it's good to be a city or town within 30 minutes of me!!)

Just wanted to say hi and thanks for the beautiful kit. I haven't been to the blog in a while, so I'm catching up :)
