What a Wonderful Day it was!

The weather could not have been any better for walking around NYC, the show was great, the windows were a little disappointing but still a treat to see, St. Patrick's Cathedral was, as always, beautiful, the tree at was beautiful..well, everything was just awesome! Okay, the crowds around the tree were a little overwhelming and I will never understand pushing and shoving to get no where but, hey, I can find that in my own back yard as well so... All in all, it was a great family day and everyone had a great time! DH played Santa all day just making sure everybody was happy and well taken care of. He bought me 2 ornaments for our tree (he knows me so well) and they were both the ones I would have bought if I was willing to spend that kind of money! We just had to go to Macy's since my daughter works at one near our home. She had thought about applying to the PR internship at the Herald Square store and after seeing it, she is really thinking about it. I am not sure I want her living in NYC so I am hoping the thrill of it wears off rather quickly! It is an awesome store...9 floors of shopping! and of course, she is thinking 9 floors of shopping with a discount!

I am paying for the whole day of walking already. Actually, I was starting to pay before we left. I have been having wicked muscle cramps and the residual pain in the muscles in my legs had me limping and hurting before we left. Seems like whenever I do any shopping, I get bad cramps. No one knows why and nothing seems to help so tonight I am just one big CRAMP! I am fine if I am sitting up but as soon as I elevate my legs or lay down they hit with a vengeance. Makes no sense to me, I would think sitting would be worse but then nothing I do is normal!

So I am sitting here at the computer, looking through files trying to find something else to give you. So glad you liked the Silly Butts...I thought they were fun! I like the idea of using them on a calendar! I found a few things that I had started to do a kit with but never finished. Just some things I call "An Old Fashioned Christmas", a string of popcorn and cranberries, popcorn balls and the whole gingerbread men from the quick page from awhile back. Hope you can use them!

This may be the last freebie until after Christmas. I have to get some baking done, promised my cousin I would help her put some baskets together and also help her deliver some Toys for Tots that her husband's club collected, get my hair cut, do the shopping for Christmas dinner, wrap the presents, get so more decorations up...how many days are left? Oh, my, oh, my!

We do pirogi and white fish for Christmas Eve and I usually make my own pirogi but I think this year I might go to the Polish Deli and buy them. Then on Christmas Day, we have a traditional English Dinner...usually prime rib but this year it is way too expensive so we are doing a spoon roast, Yorkshire pudding, the usual veggies (let's hope the green bean casserole survives this dinner!) For dessert, we have trifle, cookies and my cousin brings a huge cheesecake that is covered with fresh fruit and chocolate covered strawberries! Have I made you all hungry? We used to do oyster stew but it just got to be too much and that is NOT good reheated. And no plum pudding so I guess it is a modified traditional English dinner.

So, lot's to do and very little time left. I am sure most of you are sinking in the same boat. Don't know if I will really get a chance to post much so I would like to take this time to wish all a wonderful Holiday and to thank you for all your support and kindness. And I case I don't see ya before...Happy New Year! Be safe, healthy, happy and prosperous! Big hugs!

Yummm...what time should I be there for Christmas dinner? Mom ALWAYS made standing rib roast and yorkshire pudding for Christmas dinner, but this year she's in Florida and I'm stuck here in NY. (AND I don't know how to make yorkshire pudding) Looks like this year's dinner might be lasagna, haven't really decided yet.

How did you know that I needed a gingerbreadman for my 3 year old grandaughter's scrap page I am doing tonight for her picture she wants to give her Mom for Christmas. Of course, I don't have the picture yet. I'm making her and her 11 year old sister each one and also have a 9 year old cousin's already done. I have that picture so it is ready for Santa. I am so excited to see your freebie. I just about beat hubby to death when he came home from work I am so excited!!! Thanks!! Gotta get to work!!!! Have a great Holiday

Thank you for the wonderful old fashioned Christmas goodies, I love love love those popcorn strands.
New York sounds busy, but I'm glad you had a good time, you deserve it.
Warm washcloths will help with the cramps in your legs. I get 'em all the time, and that's the only way I can get any relief from them. Also, you might wanna try eating some bananas or potato chips for the potassium too.

I'm gonna fix roast beef for Christmas too, but no Yorkshire pudding, never made it, or even eaten it. I'm from the south, so I'll do taters, peeled whole browned in a little butter on top of the stove, then baked in the oven. They are awesome with au jus on 'em. (slurp)
I've never had pirogi's either.

Christmas Eve is so busy here, we usually all get together and have homemade deli sammiches and hot wings and I make a ham ball that everyone fights over.
This works for all of us because the whole family gets together at my MIL's house for Christmas Eve, and we are always all so busy that those sammiches are pretty dang good.
Plus the fact that everyone has to get home early so that Santa Claus doesn't miss them yanno....lol.
Ok, I'll hush now.....Merry Christmas Jannidee, to you and yours and a Happy New Year too!
hugs, NinaJo

Hi Jan,
Thanks for todays goodie, those gingerbread men are just so cute. Glad you had a nice time in NY and enjoyed the show. (how could you not). but sorry to hear that you are not feeling so well now. I am very sore myself tonight, I am on vacation, and spent the day Christmas shopping. Yes the entire day 7+ hours. But I am so happy as I got that fisher price digital camera for my 31/2 year old granddaughter. I have been searching and searching for it ever since I saw it on TV. I am always taking pictures and of course my favorite subjects are my 2 granddaughters, and recently every time I take a picture she says let me see grandma. Then after I show her she says to me, let me take a picture grandma and I have to tell her no she can't play with grandma's camera. I just know she will be so excited with this gift and because of that I am so excited. Well anyway, I wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Hugs
