Special Request

You all remember Diana who did ALL that work on the quickpage exchange we had a couple of months back, right? Well, she has a favor to ask....

"OK, now I have something to ask you. This might be a little something different for your blog. I have used one of your quickpages to do a LO for my Aunt who is turning 100 on October 20. I know, I cheated and used a QP, but I am so tired. lol
I would really like for her to get a hundred cards for her birthday. She is a very sharp lady still. Has some heart problems, arthritis, and is nearly blind, but can hold things close to see them. She is from Texas, has always lived there and is a very special lady. A TRUE SOUTHERN LADY, in every aspect of the word. If you would want to put her on your blog and ask people to send cards, if they have the time, I think it would mean a great deal to her."

Her addy: Mrs. Verda Doop, 4580 North Highway 19, Trinity, TX 75862

100 years old! I think this is such a great idea! So, come on! I know that we could send MORE than 100! If you have any hesitation, just imagine the look on her face when she gets her mail!!! Priceless!

And, the lovely Lady herself!

This is just too awesome for words. Oh my, the stories that she can tell. I would love to sit and listen to her tell about the wonders she has seen and experienced.

So nice of you to spread the word. I will definitely get my granddaughter to pick out a card for her. A fun card that will make her smile. Keira can find cards that I cannot ever hope to find. So sweet of you. See, how you influence the world around you and let your blog be a mission of kindness and joy. So sweet. I suggest everyone put a return address so that she can the various places they were mailed from. Awesome. HUGS!!!

I would be glad to. Also, contact the White House and the President will send her a birthday card. I had one sent for my Dad and Mom's 50th.

What a kind lady you are Jan, I will post a card tomorrow and cross my fingers that it speeds its way from Ireland to Texas in time for the 20th:)

I would be delighted to send a card - it will be in the post tomorrow. Some industrial action going on with the postal workers here in England at the moment but hopefully the card will make it's way to Texas in time for the 20th.

What an awesome idea!! I think it will be great to get cards from all over the world. Incidentally my husband's birthday is also on 20 October, so I think she'll have a lovely birthday!

Thanks for the cool idea and for posting it on your blog. People always amaze me when they come up with such great ideas.

What a beautiful lady! She reminds me of my grandmother who only made it to 97. She was the love of my life.

A cousin sat down with her and recorded three cassettes tapes with her relating her memories. Today when I listen it is almost as if she is in the room. Oh that we had gotten more of these tapes.

This is a great idea! My great-grandma just celbrated her 95th b-day last weekend. She was tickled because it was a surprise party and all of her great-great-grandchildren had painted a huge sign for her. I will definately send a card her way. It doesn't have far to go, as I am in Texas also.

I belong to a list where we make our own cards. I have passed the word on to the list, and she should get a lot of handmade cards as well.

This is soooo special for someone to have lived 100 years!!! Just think of ALL she has seen in her lifetime.

oh dear - I just found your blog/site today so I guess I'm too late for this but I too would have been honored to have sent your precious Auntie a card. She looks just beautiful outside and in. I pray that she actually received 100 cards. I would have loved to have taken part and helped put a smile on her face to show her people from all over the world care. How did she make out and how is she doing? Would you PLEASE tell her someone from Toronto, Canada wishes her much health, blessings and love and if you could give her a giant hug and kiss for me as well, that would be terrific!! So sorry I didn't get the card there on time.

Hugs,
Risa
