Someone tell me to go to bed!

I can get so caught up in a kit when it is going right that time just doesn't seem to mean a thing! It seems like the last time I checked it was shortly after 9PM and here it is 2:43AM! Oh, well, better spent sitting at the computer than tossing and turning I suppose!

Found out that the excitement last night was not neighborhood related! The cops stopped a kid on the street down below us for a traffic violation and he jumped out of the car and ran. There is a set of stairs that links our street with downtown. I guess in the old days when people walked everywhere it was a way to get downtown "easily". I say "easily" but there are over 400 steps and it is steep! When I was in better shape, that used to be a form of exercise walking those steps (ummm, no more!). They are beautiful, solid slabs of granite but they have shifted and tilted so, part of me gives this dope a lot of credit for being able to run up them and then keep going! The news reported a bunch of robberies in our town but it is in another section...the "new" section with all the big houses! I am just glad that it wasn't a case of our neighborhood sliding down hill some more.

The street I live on at one time was the very wealthy of the town back in the 1800's. The houses are huge. Some of them still have the carriage houses that have been converted into garages. This is where all the doctors, judges, ship owners and the like lived. All the houses have now been converted into multi family. There are a few that are newer but not many. The house next door to ours was just amazing! It was owned by a ship builder and when his business started to fail he dismantled some of his ships and used the teak to do the woodwork in his house. The entry way is all carved woodwork with raised paneling and up to a couple of years ago, it still had stretched fabric on the walls instead of wall paper. There is now a 2 bedroom apartment in what used to be the ballroom! Our house was owned by a judge and is now 2 family...7 rooms down and 6 rooms up! Wish I could have seen it in it's glory days! When we moved in, the entire garage was done in tongue and groove paneling, which we took down and used in our dining room. You just don't see craftsmanship or materials like that anymore.

An update on Danny....still in a lot of pain especially with constant head pain. His eyes is still swollen shut. He was in the hospital again last week to have more surgery on his face. They are concerned with a blood clot in his brain that is not being absorbed they way they had hoped. His short term memory is about 58% so they are encouraging him to read, watch TV and such to try to re-train his brain. We also found out tonight that he actually died twice on the way to the hospital. So, I guess you could say it really is a miracle that he is still alive! He does not want anyone to visit since he is so concerned with how he looks. He has a very long road ahead of him. Unfortunately, his family is very old school and doesn't believe in therapy but I think he is really going to need it to help him deal with all that he has already been through and all that he has yet to face. I have been watching the papers for info about the trial. I think I would really like to go and sit in the court room but I would probably get thrown out if I thought something wasn't being done right...would just HAVE to open my big mouth! DH has already warned me that he will not come bail me out if I was to get thrown in jail for contempt of court! LOL! (yes, he would...who else would cook for him and do his laundry...I am indispensable!)

Thank you! Thank you, Cindy! I always wondered why they called them the 'Golden Years' and yours is the best explanation that I have ever heard!

Gee, you really liked the frames! Hope the rest of the kits is as much of a hit with you! Lizzerd, about the screw...you are just going to have to wait and see now, aren't you!!

Today, are the papers....

Download no longer available...sorry!

(let's hope 4Shared is playing nice with this one!)

Awww, Lizzerd....guess you don't have to wait! See the screw on the tag????

Thank you so much for the new pieces. The houses on your street sound wonderful and the steps I wouldn't attempt them at all. Hope Danny keeps improving and I agree he probably does need some type therapy. Thanks, teresa

Another WONderful kit---thank you SO much. And thnx for keeping us posted about Danny & also your friend. Many prayers being sent up for both. I love reading about your neighborhood. Would you be comfortable posting some pics of some of the homes & especially those steps?? We went on a "trek" in Honk Kong that is supposed to be the longest in the world---but there, several escalator type stairs were thrown in. It all sounds SO unique!

Oh my, so love the wonderful colors that are masculine, yet with a light touch of that something extra. Those plaids are just too much to take at once. Those embeded screws along with the partial insertion reveals the diverse character of your element designs. Your ingenuity juices are running high. You keep this up & we will have to slow those juices down, YEAH RIGHT.!!!
LEAVIN LUV!! XOXOXOXO

LOLOLOL!!!
It seems I always find something to identify with in your blog...I'm one of those who yells at the TV...DH hates to watch the news with me...;o)

I truly was thinking recently... what if I had been in the court when Nifong was on trial...what he did was sooooo bad... I decided that it is probably good for me never to be in a courtroom...if i didn't actually speak I would surely moan & groan...;o)

My DH would love to see the woodwork in those old homes...he has done some woodcarving and furniture building.

Thanks so much for the male kit...;o)

Thank you for the papers. I agree with you, sitting in front of the computer beats tossing and turning any day. Glad to hear your neighbor is still doing ok. We will continue to keep him in our prayers.

Dear Friend just call me if you get put in the pokey, I'll come get you out. They can't keep a goog girl down and you are the best!!! You may need to let me know a little ahead of time as I will have to sneak the John Deere out. They have even banned me from driving it just because trees jump out in front of me and the hills get so close to me, my DH, DD, &DS think I might take a tumble. I've been saving my change so I know I will have enough. Just in case I don't, don't worry, I will threaten to come and stay at the jail until they let you out!!!!!! You can count on your old friend Pugsli!!!!!!! Did you get the recipes? If not, I will send them to you again. I really love this new kit-it's just my style, all plaids (which I see as flannel) and down to earth. I think you are the very best designer ever!!!!!!!
Hugs to ya!

I would love to see your neighborhood homes too! Love old houses. They have character and have seen so much life in them. If walls could talk...then maybe not!!

Boy, if I would have known you were up too we could have had a party!! I find I'm up until between 4 & 6:00 every morning any more. I see why I used to work the night shift!
So glad to know that Danny is getting better a little at a time. It will be a long road for him, especially without therapy. It is amazing how much it can help!!
Your homes sound wonderful!! I love older neighborhoods like that. They are just so great & full of charm. It is also great that you know so much about the homes in your area & who owned them in the past. What a treasure!!
Thanks so much once again for all that you do here. I hope you realize what a wonderful designer you are, and what a gift it is to be able to get your designs for free. It helps so much!! Thank you!!

I know the kind of houses you are talking. Even though I live in Ireland I'm living right now in that type of house, that has been converted into apartments quite a long time ago, but just looking at what it would have been the original size of the house with ground floor and two other floors above, you realised they were huge houses. And the walls are extremely thick, the temperature is completely different inside and outside. :)

It's nice to read that your neighbour Danny is improving, but he'll sure benefit from some kind of therapy to help him. I hope he recovers completely. :)

The papers are really nice, thanks so much for them. And I hope you are not staying at night too much and go to bed earlier tonight. :)

Best wishes. :o)

I haven't been blogging for a couple of days, so I didn't see the update on Danny until now. There is at least good hope for a fairly complete recovery and that is good news. I'd like to share something we did at RAKScraps last year that might be something that could be done for Danny.

We were approached by a loving Mom in the East whose son has a very rare brain tumor that causes some very bizarre seizures. There is a difficult, risky surgery for it, but he wasn't quite 4 yet and had many years of these seizures if they didn't do something. So the decision was made to do it. They knew his memory would be affected, perhaps badly, so she asked could we help make a few scrapbook pages to put into a small album to help spark his memories and help him reconnect his sense of self. The long and short of it was 83 women from around the world that volunteered to make pages. We made THREE full albums of coordinated 2 page LOs that covered all of his life from birth to July. They began looking at them before he ever went to the hospital and became his anchor. Something like that might be helpful for Danny. It can be a kind of therapy on its own - for the whole family!

I am glad that Danny is slowly mending and it does sound like he could use therapy its to bad his family is old school but heck my step daughter is a whopping 18 and doesnt believe in it..she feels all mental issues are just "in your head" and you can just get over them...i told her she will learn when she is a real grown up..lol...
Good to hear the lumpectomy on your friend went well also. I hope the news remains good! She has a great friend in you as I am sure you do in her.
I am 43 and feeling like im 83 at the moment all my physical issues are attacking again at one time but life has its moments and I figure each day I will get through..

As for that trial i think people who do things like what was done to Danny should have the eqivalent done to them...an eye for an eye...im feeling quite mean these days since something bad happened to my young duaghter...i figure if they can dish it they should recieve the same anyway have a great day and thanks again
