Lazy Sunday

well, not actually. Trying to get some progress made in cleaning the house but decided to take a break. Have to pace myself otherwise I get pooped out and disinterested in actually getting anything accomplished. And, I was dusting around the computer and, I swear, I heard it talking to me, "Blog, blog, blog!"! Really, I swear it was!

I downloaded a free trial of PS CS2 and I am lost! I only have it for 30 days and I don't think I am going to be able to really decide if I can do it in the short of time! I love PSP but there are so many actions for PhotoShop that are not available for PSP so I thought I would give it a try. Geez...it makes me feel sooooo stupid! This could either be a very LONG 30 days or a very Short 30 days!

I am usually pretty good at figuring out programs. My last job, I lied and said I knew PowerPoint. Well, it wasn't a complete lie. I knew a program called PowerPoint existed! Considering my job was primarily putting together presentations for the VP of Marketing, I would go home at night, figure out what I had to do the next day and then go in and appear to know what I was doing! But within a year, I was doing training seminars for the Connecticut and Florida locations and did all the presentations for the Executive Board. Even put together an interactive training CD! My boss eventually told me that he knew I had lied but was very impressed with how fast I caught on. So, why does PSCS2 stymie me so much????? I am trying to think back when I was learning PSP and I guess it was just as difficult!

Thank you for all the well wishes for my friend. She actually came home from the hospital yesterday. Initially, she was to go to a rehab but they did not have a bed. So they are arranging for the therapists to come into her home. She is amazed at how much better it is everyday.

I have not heard from Betty so I cannot give you an update. My heart goes out to her. Such a difficult situation to go through.

My stimulator is still zapping me. The headache is some better...wish I could say the same about the pain! I have lived with this for 30 years and I would just like to get to the point of feeling like doing something instead of forcing myself to do something. So many of you are dealing with chronic pain, too. Don't you wish you could have just ONE morning when you felt like getting out of bed? I think I would think I had died and went to Heaven! I did check in to the Bowen Therapy (sorry, I forget who mentioned it, sigh) and there is someone about 5 minutes from my house that does it. I had called her before for an appointment for Naturopathic Treatment but my insurance will not cover it and the initial visit is $4oo...little steep when you are on disability! But, I think I am going to give it another try and see if there is something I can work out. I finally got myself off most of the medication the Pain Center had me on since I was a walking zombie but then the pain increases. LOL! Let's see, increased pain vs. going through life like the walking dead.....hmmmmmm, tough call! Oh, well, such is life and I am thankful that at least I can still move!

Quick note...I will be removing the older kits within the next couple of days since I am again running out of room on 4Shared, so if you want them, grab them! Once they are gone, they will probably not be back!

Okay....on to the next part of "Just Being a Kid!" Today, we have Embellishments! Can't have enough of them, can we? The preview is just a sampling, you get so much more!

Download no longer available...sorry!

and remember, if you download to leave a little love! The comment percentage is getting a little off kilter again!! Same names keep showing up!

I know exactly what you mean about Photoshop! I too just picked up other programs & made them work, but not this one. My company bought it for me to use at work & showed me a couple of things, but that's all. I found a class through the local adult school and it was WONDERFUL!! Now I would love to find an intermediate class as I am totally hooked! I also found a good book with lots of pictures that helps me when I get stuck-Barnes & Noble's own publication. I also like Scott Kelby's books as they are simple to follow & fun. Good luck with it all!

Hi Jan, This kit is really just so cute, thanks so much. I loved todays pieces. I just feel so bad for you, I can't imagine what you are going thru. Besides every once in awhile having my back go out I have knee pain, but it only bothers me when I go to sit or get up from a sitting position and I complain about that. But to have pain all the time, thats terrible, I wish there was something I could do for you.

This is so fun-loving with all the lovely shapes & beautiful colors. Love the arrows, stick people that makes me smile, & other fun shapes. Also, our trademark just rocks, I really enjoy seeing it on all your creations.
About photoshop, I am also going to start on it whenever they get my computer in working condition. I received CS2 for Christmas, I knew about CS3, but since I know people who use 2, I stuck with that. Plus, my daughter got it through the University Store @ an excellent discount because she helped the Director with his programming. I won't say how much less. I also was going to suggest Kelby's books. I also used Barnes & Noble University to learn Flash a while ago & it was fantastic. There books are fantastic as she said. So momlid (lidia) has given you excellent reference sources. I just love going to school since I can't go to work. I empathize with you about your pain meds & pray that a solution will at least make the pain tolerable. I am basically in the same situation, but they don't know what type of blood disorder I have. I take cancer drugs through Oncology each month for one week-outpatient. Blue Cross pays $44,000 each month for that therapy. If I was to lose my insurance, I would be helpless. So keep on fighting. I also stopped my pain drugs because of the same reason--stupor. Keep us posted about PS-CS3.

ROFL!!! I told the same big fat lie years ago when I was interviewed for a PA position - but by the abysmally poor standard of presentations the company was producing then, even my first attempts were hailed as marvellous. And I thought I was the only one with the brass neck to do that!!
I'm lucky that I've only had two brushes with excruciating pain and each time it was hypnotherapy that helped banish it. One was a shoulder injury and the other a back injury which left me stooped with pain, and when pain meds and treatments failed, a single hypnosis session did the trick on both occasions. The secret is to find a really good hypnotherapist.

Thank you for sharing this is adorable. I love the kit. I hate living in pain to but much prefer it to being a zombie. My husband spent 9 months on a moraphine pump in a state of total oblivian! I spent a few months so out of it I was put in the kitchen rather than loose my job and finally just gave up all my meds...i know it is not easy. I have to still work but I am able still for now. I hope you have a good day tomorrow
Thanks again

Hi there, sorry to hear that your pain has been going on for so long. I hope it would improve and best wishes to you and your friend.

About the program, I know what you mean, I don't actually use CS2 but GIMP and I found extremely difficult at the beginning to understand anything. I have worked with Photoshop and it's a really complicated program, but it actually pays to have patience and keep practising. At the end you get lots of satisfaction with the results you get. I'm not sure this will help you, but this is the link to a website that offers free courses and there's going to be Photoshop course starting soon. It's pretty basic, but it's free and might be of help

http://h30187.www3.hp.com/all_courses.jsp

Best of luck with that if you decide to make the course, and thanks a million again for the kit, it's really beautiful.
Best wishes. :o)

This is so adorable. Thank you. I'm having trouble just figuring out PSE4 so I can imagine it takes awhile for PSCS2! I don't see how you get so much accomplished dealing with all you do. I admire your talent and your fortitude greatly. Thank you for all you do to enrich others' lives. XX

Thank you Janni, I've been reading your blog. My sister has one of those things in her body as well. From what I can tell it works good for her. I often wonder if I should check into it for myself as i have chronic pain and on alot of pain meds. I have had 3 cervical fusions, I have a plate in my neck and also have deteriation in my lower back. I can relate to your pain. Got off the subject, lol Thank you for all that you do for us.

I have just got photoshop too and am looking for a group to maybe join to learn how to use is, I will look into it later when I get back from my parents house and let you know what I found, when I was learning to use PSP I found it invaluable joining a group...ljd (Linda)

Re Bowen: Hmmmm....something sounds fishy. $400 for a consultation?! I had a consultation with the Bowen practioner when I went for my first treatment and there were no added fees. I paid $55/treatment.

you and I have so much in common when it comes to our pain..I so sometimes sit and wonder what it would be like to be pain free or not feel guilty for taking a pain med that gives me the freedom to take care of my family..and don't take the meds..and suffer it out..sometimes..but I so understand you..the pain itself tires you out..too...
love all your blog post..and wow you are such a creative soul..thank you Jannidee..

i love your stuff and reading your blog but can't use the rar files. Does anyone know what the advantage is vs. zip? I tried to download a rar file once and it screwed up all my zip files.
