They are so memorable because I do not care for the taste of liquor, but loves home-made eggnog with rum, brandy, liquor, and egg-nog ice cream. So thick and creamy as if it is a slush. I haven't made it or had it in years. Maybe it will be good for me to do so this year and enjoy the moment with a chilled champagne class as its holder. You definitely have me drooling all over the place. So lovely to read how expertly you kept the true meaning of Christmas within your home. I always told my children that the presents are representative of the gifts from the 3 Wise Men, also that parents are Santa's helpers. I kept my tree up until the old New Year, January 6, the same as my parents did when I was a child. Have a blessed and fruitful day. Hugs to your family and friends!!!grambiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18088160836850584667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35679696.post-19499127150163518622007-12-16T12:53:00.000-05:002007-12-16T12:53:00.000-05:00I love what you did with your children, a wonderfu...I love what you did with your children, a wonderful thing.
I too am allergic to real trees, and break out into massive hives. We've only ever had one once because of that, although my husband always asks, lol.

My family tradition, well the one I started right from my eldest's first Christmas (she'll be 18 in Jan), is that we have a birthday cake for Jesus. After diner we all sing "Happy Birthday to Jesus" and then the girls blow out the candles. I wanted them to understand the true meaning right from the start.
My girls appreciate anything they get because we don't really have much and the older ones know so they are greatful at how hard we try.
My 3 eldest have had wonderful Christmas' with family around, saddly the youngest has not had that experiance more then once as family members passed, and the ones left stopped the gatherings.
Saddly this year will be a very hard one, as the my uncle Joe just passed away. He was my father/grandfather and grandfather/great-grandfather to my children. This year they had actually planned to have us there for Christmas to spend it with him, but he passed on the 12th, so they cancelled it.
Jan, I wish you and yours a Christmas filled with much joy, and many blessings, you deserve it.
God bless
LisaEAL Designshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04147459404286791904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35679696.post-70340585960446802902007-12-16T09:26:00.000-05:002007-12-16T09:26:00.000-05:00In our house we used to get gifts from parents, fr...In our house we used to get gifts from parents, friends and family on Christmas Eve and only ONE gift from Santa on Christmas morning. This used to work very well....we also made lists and marked our favourite ones. It is nice to hear what other people's traditions are.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35679696.post-88106264438373320542007-12-16T02:01:00.000-05:002007-12-16T02:01:00.000-05:00I had to smile about your hating to take the tree ...I had to smile about your hating to take the tree down. It brings back a funny memory of mine! The year that I was 16, I wanted to decorate the tree all by myself. My Dad had passed away 2 years earlier, and my brother was in the Navy. I wouldn't let my Mother help at all! So when Christmas ended, and the New year rolled around, my Mother said since I wouldn't let her help with the tree, then I could just take it down by myself too! Well..... as a teenager, and procrastinator too, I just always had some reason not to do it. It was still up on Valentine's Day! LOL I had a friend over, and she made fun of me, and then told all of our friends. Needless to say, I took the tree down, and NEVER asked to do it alone again!
